What Is Levantine Arabic?
"The Levant" includes Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine—countries with complex histories, cultures, and identities that date back centuries—countries that, while similar, are also wonderfully unique.
This complex, rich heritage is mirrored in the language. Like the countries themselves, the Arabic spoken in each one is distinct, but the accents are similar enough that we can still use the term "Levantine Arabic"—much like we simply call the dialects spoken in America and the UK "English".
